Benefits of Rough Terrain Forklifts
As suggested by the name, these forklifts are built to handle those tougher terrains. They typically can be found with 2.5t, 3.5t and 5t lift capacities, with different drive options available for each. These forklifts are popular with farmers or other occupations where working on uneven surfaces are a job requirement for the forklift. Read on to learn about some of the benefits of these forklifts.
Options are available for both 2WD and 4WD capabilities. 2WD is the standard option for most of these forklifts but 4WD is recommended and often selected for customers driving forklifts through soft areas. Users that work in vineyards or olive growing yards often select the 4WD option due to the mud and loamy sand they will need to navigate through.
Rough terrain forklifts are fitted with pneumatic tyres to help customers navigate the tough terrains their forklift may experience. By having pneumatic tyres, customers can navigate easily over uneven surfaces. The nature of the tyre allows for an element of “give”, or compression, which allows the tyre to work with the terrain it is on, as opposed to a solid rubber tyre which would be pushing against the terrain.
Our rough terrain forklifts are built with a raised chassis to help navigate those tough terrains easier. The raised chassis reduces any risk of damage to the chassis by keeping it further away from any damaging elements that may be found on an uneven terrain. By being elevated as well, this further protects the driver from any debris that could be sent up on an uneven terrain.
